Ideal location in Preveza, Pantokrator

Pantocrator Castle

Pantokrator is a seaside settlement just 2 km west of Preveza. It is the second settlement that one encounters after the city towards the Ionian Sea. It is 400 meters from the exit of the Preveza-Aktio submarine tunnel and the visitor passes through its outskirts.

The fortress of Pantokratoras was built in the beginning of the 19th century by Ali Pasha. The main part of the fortress is shaped in an almost regular pentagon, with high, perimeter walls. In the perimeter, there are domed spaces that shape at the centre a big internal yard. Inside the castle, on the east part of the south wing, a small temple, dedicated to the memory of Agioi Anargyroi is erected.

Ancient Nikopolis

Nikopolis that means the town of victory is probably the largest in size ancient city in Greece and it is located about 8 kilometres away from Preveza, in Epirus. It was built by the Roman emperor Octavian after his victory at Aktion against Antony and Cleopatra of Egypt!

The size and the extensive walls are remarkable and totally stunning. Within the archaeological site, you will find many interesting monuments such as the impressive Roman Odeon, the Roman water tower and the monument of Augustus.

Acheron River

The springs of Acheron River is an area of outstanding natural beauty located at the border of Thesprotia and Preveza. Apart from the natural beauty, the springs of Acheron is known as one of the five rivers of the underworld of Greek mythology.

Acheron River is located 25km from Parga, in a beautiful surrounding with rich vegetation and crystalline waters which comprise a unique natural landscape. In many parts of the river where the water flow is normal, there are lakes and water pits which have the ideal living conditions for many amphibians and fish. In other locations, the river flows impetuously through steep and precipitate high cliffs. In the rocky side slopes of Acheron, there are many birds of prey that nest in the forest slopes of the canyon.

Acheron River comprises a fantastic short trip for its magnificent transparent water and the surrounding rocky landscape.
